Microsoft VS Activision Blizzard
The biggest name in the technology industry Microsoft had made its biggest move recently. Microsoft announced they will take over the gaming giant Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion which will make the biggest takeover in the technology field.
This takeover makes a great advantage to the Xbox owner Microsoft. Activision Blizzard was bought for a $69.7 Billion all-cash purchase which was 95$ per share worth.
This was the biggest acquisition Microsoft was done and the previous biggest purchase for Microsoft is LinkedIn in 2016 worth $26 Billion. This records as the biggest acquisition for its record-breaking $69.7Billion and the previous best was $67 Billion when Dell bought EMC.
Activision is Blizzard is well known for some of the most all-time favorite games. The company was successful for many years. Games like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, StarCraft, and Candy Crush were created by Activision Blizzard.
Now, these games will be added to the Microsoft Library and will turn into Xbox specials which will be a significant impact on the gaming competitor Sony. In a decent year, this was the second purchase Microsoft made in the gaming industry. Last March Microsoft takeover over ZeniMax Media which was $7.5 Billion worth.
ZeniMax Media owns games like Doom, Fallout, etc. Microsoft will start the deal in July and expects to close the deal in 2023. After the take over it will become the third-largest game publisher by the annual income revenue after Tencent and Sony.
As I mentioned before this was their second takeover in the gaming industry for Microsoft which seems this is some kind of strategic move for them. This move can be sense they are competing with Sony but in deep it would be a strategic move for their future creating metaverse.
